Vernon Cronen

Vernon E. Cronen, Professor of Communication, , Amherst, Massachusetts, USA.

Vernon Cronen has been a faculty member in University of Massachusetts since 1970. From 1985 to 2010 He was Senior Consultant at the Kensington Consultation Centre, London. He is co-developer, with Barnett Pearce, of the Communication theory, "Coordinated Management of Meaning (CMM)." His written work has focused on the development and application of that theory and its application to organizations and personal relationships. Cronen has lectured and presented workshops in a variety of countries through Europe. Much of the direction of his work on CMM since 1985 is strongly influenced by his association with Peter Lang and the KCC tradition. Cronen's recent writing has been focused on the relationship of CMM to Philosophical Pragmatism, Systems Theory, and Wittgenstein's later philosophy of language. These theoretical positions, he believes, have direct and productive consequences for practice. Cronen's publications include the broader issue of the character of Practical Theories and the standards they should meet
